Grants to Maryland nonprofit organizations for projects that reduce pollution and improve water quality in eligible locations. Funding is intended to support projects that educate and engage local residents and protect and restore local water sources. Projects must take place in Montgomery County, outside the municipalities of Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Takoma Park.
The Montgomery County Watershed Restoration and Outreach Grant Program funds public outreach and stewardship projects, community-based restoration water quality implementation projects, and litter reduction projects in the Anacostia River Watershed through trash trap maintenance and monitoring. Projects should educate and engage residents in watershed improvement while achieving measurable impacts and sustainable behavior change. Creative and innovative proposals are encouraged.
The DEP will focus on funding projects that increase public engagement and promote stewardship activities that reduce pollutants through community-based restoration practices. Projects should be inclusive of the community and represent the diversity of Montgomery County. The Trust strongly encourages grant applications directly from underrepresented groups and for projects that increase awareness and participation of communities that are traditionally underrepresented, such as communities of color.
