Grants to Maryland nonprofit arts and cultural organizations to build capacity, improve operations, and promote stability. Funding is intended to support organizations that deliver arts and cultural education and experiences to the general public. Grants may be used for activities including design and planning, facility improvements, and furniture and equipment purchases.
This grant supports capital projects and purchases of equipment that:
Improve or produce a complete, useable, and accessible arts facility
Integrates energy-efficient technologies
Improves the effective delivery of, or access to, an organization’s arts and cultural programming.
Maryland-based nonprofit organizations delivering arts and cultural education or experiences as a core part of their mission or vision are welcome to apply.
Applicants to the Arts Capital grant program must:
- Be a Maryland-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization or operate under a Model A fiscal sponsorship
- Have an annual operating budget of less than $3,000,000
a. Participate in MSAC’s Grants for Organizations or County Arts Development programs, or
b. Be open to the public and provide cultural education or experiences
Include providing arts and cultural education or experiences as a core part of the organization’s mission or vision
The following are ineligible for this grant program: Organizations with annual operating costs exceeding $3 million, for-profit businesses and organizations, units of government, colleges and universities, schools, and nonprofit organizations whose primary mission does not include the delivery of arts and cultural education or experiences.
